Hey friends—Scooter here!

I think about air pollution and its health impacts a lot – it’s kind of my thing as the ‘Spare The Air’ mascot. Air pollution caused by gas-powered cars and trucks can cause serious health effects, especially for those in sensitive groups, such as younger children. These health impacts can include asthma, respiratory illness, and even lung damage.

The good news is that air pollution can be reduced! Spare The Air is a program that encourages everyone to take action and reduce the amount of trips they take in gas-powered cars and trucks. The less trips taken, the better the air quality. These actions can include:

  • Carpooling
  • Taking public transit
  • Walking, biking, or riding a scooter to work or school
  • Sharing Spare The Air information with friends and family

Air pollution is a serious topic, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun with it! Here are a few Spare The Air jokes that I think you might like:

How did smog become so successful as an air pollutant?

Answer
It got in on the ground-level.

What did the man say when the air pollution started affecting his vision?

Answer
“Ow, ow! My AQ-EYE.”

What did the General say as he stormed the Air Pollution King’s castle?

Answer
“Spare The Heir.”

Remember—everyone, including you, can help Spare The Air and reduce air pollution. I hope you share these jokes with your friends, family, and educators, and check out the rest of what my website, ‘Scooter’s World,’ has to offer—including games and activities, educational videos, and resources for educators.

Until next time,
